Pool and Spa Centre

Pool and Spa Centre is an established retailer based in the UK. They sell hot tubs, swim spas, spa accessories and replacement spa covers online and via dealers. Although business was booming and orders were increasing, Pool and Spa Centre needed an ecommerce system that could grow with them without compromising the customer shopping experience.

Their old site had been developed years before and served them well but as time went by it was hard for their team to maintain. New functionality took a long time to develop, implementing updates was risky and there wasn’t much flexibility if they wanted to scale the business. They knew that it was time to future-proof their business with some new tech.

Working with Ecommerce Excellence, Pool and Spa Centre embarked on a Magento replatforming project. Our goal was to preserve all of its critical business data while enhancing the shopping experience and delivering a robust, scalable platform that would be easier to manage and offer improved performance.

Old ecommerce platform was still functional, but it was hampering business efficiency, limiting innovation opportunities, and didn’t allow for future growth.

• Old ecommerce platform: Supported by ageing technologies, taking longer to maintain, and complex custom developments were required to implement even basic enhancements.
• Complex Catalogue: Products had multiple configurations, options and product relationships. Migrating their complex catalogue without interrupting the customer experience would be crucial.
• Poor customer experience: Site navigation, product browsing and purchasing processes were outdated and didn’t match up to modern ecommerce standards. The buying process from discovering a product to checking out should have been seamless.
• Operational Risk: Their business relied on a platform that was highly customised, costly to maintain and evolved at great expense. There was no need to operate at this level of technical risk.
• Ready for Growth: As their business grew they needed an ecommerce platform that could handle increases in traffic, number of products and future integrations, without the need for another massive rebuild.

Ecommerce Excellence migrated the site to Magento Open Source, deploying a solution that struck the perfect balance between technical foundation and greatly enhanced customer experience.

• Magento Migration: The old site was migrated to Magento Open Source so the business had a flexible, high performing ecommerce platform with the scalability they need to grow.
• Data Migration: Products, customer profiles, categories and historical data were migrated with integrity checks in place to ensure data was kept intact, including complex product data.
• Enhanced UX: Navigation was streamlined and simplified, allowing better product discovery and an overall cleaner checkout process on desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
• Developed Extensions: Business critical functionality was rebuilt from scratch in Magento using current development methods. This means the business can keep key parts of their current process, without the constraints of previous development.
• Future Proof: The new solution will allow the client to continue making enhancements and integrate new solutions as they become available. Magento Open Source also provides a stable foundation to support the client’s future marketing and ecommerce efforts.
